Meaning of Akshaya Tritiya

Akshaya Tritiya is a Hindu auspicious day that is celebrated in the month of April or May every year. We celebrate it on the Third (Tritiya) day of Shukla Paksha in Vaisakha month. Akshaya means imperishable (Avinashi) or never diminishing. So the meaning of Akshaya Tritiya is the third day which gives imperishable results and outcomes.

Akshaya Tritiya

Significance of Akshaya Tritiya
On this day, the difference between the Sun and the Moon is between 24 and 36 degrees where the moon is ahead of the Sun. The Sun and the moon are at their planetary best and most intensified on this day. The energies in the universe coincide with each other and their amplitude is almost Nil. We can say it is the reset period for the energies. During this reset, there is a natural opening for a very positive wave. If any human being gets the advantage of this positive wave then this wave itself pushes him naturally to his destination with minimum efforts. That means we can achieve success naturally with less efforts, that is called Good Luck. Isn't it nature's best gift?

We can achieve success easily if we start anything new this day. That is why Akshaya Tritiya is considered as one of the Sade Teen Muhuratas. People start new business or construction on this day, couples get married to make their marriage successful, people plan Gruh Pravesh for successful family life, some make investments to attract more return on it, some buy vehicles as metals attract more prosperity, some buys gold (metal again) as prosperity attracts more prosperity. Anything started on Akshaya Tritiya is unperishable and flourishes over the time.

Keep in mind, whatever you will do on Akshaya Tritiya will get intensified in multiples. So stay away from bad things and bad habits on this day.

What are we supposed to do on Akshaya Tritiya?

To get maximum advantages of this natural phenomenon, we should practice good deeds on this day.
1. Do charity and donate to needy people. When you give, you receive. This is the Law of nature. You may be thinking how can I receive, when I give. The logic is, when you give something that creates emptiness and vacuum and this vacuum attracts more prosperity. In ancient times, the Kings used to do charity and in return, they used to become wealthier. The poor remains poor because he knows only receiving and not giving. Once the poor start giving, his situations change. Of course, we have to follow moderation in giving, not too much giving. 😀

2. Donate food and food grains to poor people to reap the maximum benefits. Donations can serve your bad fortune to good luck on this day. Donate money to a good cause to get maximum interest / return on investments.

3. Perform spiritual activities like meditation, dhyan etc. for good fortune. If you are not used to it, then worship Lord Vishnu, Goddess Laxmi and Kuber, sprinkle Tulsi jal in house. Recite 'Vishnu Sahatranam', offer soaked Poha in curd as Prasad. Chant following mantras,

4. Some people wear yellow or pink colour clothes to attract prosperity.

5. Conduct a fast, stay away from non-veg, alcohol and other addictions.

6. Read Bhagavad Gita.

7. Talk less, be calm and keep doing good karma.

8. Serve elders and parents. It's good to get their blessings on this day.
